Six Maoist district activists quit party

Accusing their party leaders of being involved in financial discrepancies and enjoying luxurious lifestyle at the expense of party cadres, six district level activists of Maoist party in Sindhuli announced their decision to disassociate themselves from the party.

The former Maoist cadres had announced their decision by organising a press conference at an undisclosed location citing security reasons. Those who have disassociated themselves from the party through the announcement include Maoist district secretariat members Madan Baral, Jwala Prasad Neupane, Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, Menaka Pula and district members Kalpana Pokharel and Sabitra Neupane.

They have also accused the district leadership of embezzling more than Rs 6 million collected in the district and discriminating against the cadres to the point of exploiting them.

"The district level leaders own houses in the capital and enjoy luxurious lifestyle, while cadres at lower level don't have even food and shelters," reads the statement.

They also said the party even discriminated among the martyrs' families and paid special attention to a few selected families.

"So we were left with no option but to quit the party as the central level leaders turned a deaf ear towards our repeated complaints," they said.
